Abstract

The article discusses an evolutionary feature selection method based on probability-based initialized particle swarm optimization (PPSO-EDT) for high-dimensional classification tasks. It introduces a novel dual-task approach that divides the feature set into frontier and non-redundant subsets, utilizing knowledge transfer between these tasks to enhance classification accuracy. The method also includes an inflection point selection strategy and a knowledge transfer strategy based on global optimal location crossing, designed to accelerate the search process and balance early search and late convergence. The proposed approach is evaluated on 12 high-dimensional gene datasets, demonstrating superior classification performance and computational efficiency compared to other methods. The paper concludes by highlighting the advantages of the probability-based initialization strategy, inflection point selection strategy, and multitasking evolutionary method, while acknowledging the need for further research to address computational costs and constrained feature selection problems.
