Abstract

The study investigates the synthesis and properties of Ce/Yb-doped borate glasses, focusing on the effects of doping on density, molar volume, and optical band gaps. The addition of CeO2 and Yb2O3 oxides significantly impacts these properties, making the glasses promising for applications in optical devices and radiation shielding. The research also highlights the role of non-bridging oxygen atoms in enhancing the glasses' optical and radiation shielding capabilities. The comprehensive analysis of these properties sets this study apart from others in the field, offering valuable insights into the potential uses of these specialized glasses.
