Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has facilitated global communication but also led to illegal activities such as digital piracy and copyright infringement. This article addresses the pressing need for robust image watermarking techniques that can embed unique digital fingerprints into images, ensuring ownership claims in cases of disputes. It categorizes existing watermarking algorithms into spatial, frequency, and matrix domains, highlighting their strengths and limitations. The article introduces a novel DCT-based algorithm that directly embeds pixel values, enhancing robustness against various attacks, including noise interference, secondary compression, and intentional tampering. The proposed method prioritizes embedding in smooth regions of the image and uses a geometric correction algorithm to restore the image's structure, ensuring the watermark's integrity. Experimental results demonstrate the algorithm's superior performance in maintaining invisibility and robustness against a wide range of attacks, making it a significant contribution to the field of image watermarking.
