Abstract

The article delves into the critical issue of virtual machine (VM) placement in cloud environments, crucial for efficient resource utilization. It explores both static and dynamic VM placement techniques, with a focus on the multi-objective eagle algorithm. The study evaluates several algorithms, including multi-resource alignment, first fit, two-stage best fit, EAGLE, and EAGLE modified, using a simulator. The results showcase the performance of these algorithms in terms of CPU and memory utilization, task failure rates, and resource fragmentation. The EAGLE and EAGLE modified algorithms demonstrate superior performance in reducing task failure rates and resource fragmentation. The research aims to provide insights for future improvements in VM placement strategies to enhance cloud computing efficiency.
