Isolated grids powered by hydro generating units are usually requiring a high amount of inertia to meet frequency requirements. In the presented industrial application the load-steps are about 30%-40% of the rated turbine power, hence additional control elements with a fast acting capability have to be installed to ensure stable and efficient operation. With the application of new promising storage technologies this so called "Industrial Micro grid" can be stabilized and even additional services (e.g voltage control and black-start capability) can be provided to the system.
