Abstract

The article introduces an innovative approach to predict downhole leaks in hydrocarbon production by leveraging surface measurements. It addresses the challenges of corrosion and crossflow, which significantly impact well integrity and production costs. The methodology involves using surface injection and production data to estimate leak rates and depths, avoiding the need for downhole measurements. The approach is tested on an actual injection well, demonstrating high accuracy in predicting leak rates and depths compared to traditional methods. The study highlights the potential of surface measurements to revolutionize downhole leak detection, offering a more efficient and cost-effective solution for the industry.
