Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical analysis of the Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS) implementation at Santos Dumont Airport, focusing on mitigating aeronautical risks associated with runway excursions. The study evaluates various scenarios, including different EMAS configurations and expansions of the Runway End Safety Area (RESA), to determine the most effective risk reduction strategies.
