Abstract

The article delves into the intricacies of deploying 5G New Radio (5G NR) in the n78 band, which presents both opportunities and challenges for meeting end-user requirements. The n78 band offers a mid-band frequency range that balances capacity and coverage but faces issues like signal attenuation and limited spectrum availability. The study focuses on designing a system model for the n78 band, implementing six different traffic templates, and analyzing performance using the Proportional Fair (PF) scheduling algorithm. Through extensive simulations, the article evaluates metrics such as throughput, packet drop ratio, and delay for various applications like video, voice, FTP, COAP, CBR, and email. The findings reveal that while the n78 band can deliver high-capacity services, optimal resource allocation remains a challenge. The article concludes by emphasizing the need for more efficient QoS-aware resource allocation algorithms to fully leverage the potential of 5G NR in the n78 band.
