Abstract

The article delves into the reliability and effectiveness of repeated inspections in nondestructive testing (NDT), focusing on the aviation industry. It discusses the limitations of assuming statistical independence in repeated inspections and introduces a correlated POD (CPOD) method based on RMC. The study involves eddy-current inspections on a Ti–6Al–4V plate with simulated cracks, comparing different models for evaluating POD curves. The results highlight the importance of considering correlated data in repeated inspections to improve inspection reliability and reduce uncertainty. The article concludes by recommending repeated inspections as a means to extend the useful life of structures through reliable NDT.
