Abstract

The chapter delves into the dynamics of innovative activity among industrial enterprises in Ukraine, focusing on the period from 2010 to 2020. It highlights the significant drop in the number of innovatively active enterprises due to economic downturns and geopolitical factors, particularly the loss of almost half of the country's innovative potential in 2015. The analysis also covers the trends in innovative costs, showing a general decrease in expenditures despite some fluctuations. The chapter explores the distribution of innovatively active enterprises by areas of innovative activity, noting a shift from internal research and development to the purchase of new machinery and equipment. Additionally, it examines the implementation of new technological processes and the production of innovative industrial products, emphasizing the need for increased investment and state support to foster a more innovative economy. The chapter concludes with recommendations for policy changes to stimulate innovative activity, including the development of the stock market, regional innovation policies, and green public procurement.
