Abstract

The article presents a detailed numerical simulation and industrial validation of Electromagnetic Stirring (EMS) on transient flow, solidification, and inclusion transport in a vertical-bending slab continuous caster. Using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and Discrete Phase Model (DPM), the study demonstrates that EMS enhances flow uniformity and inclusion removal rates, mitigates asymmetric flow patterns, and improves the overall cleanliness of the slab surface. The research highlights the significant impact of EMS on the quality and efficiency of continuous casting processes, providing valuable insights for optimizing steel production.
