Abstract

This chapter delves into the geological evolution and metallogenic processes of the southern margin of the North China craton, focusing on the prediction of copper resources. It highlights the complex geological history of the region, characterized by a platform-type double-layer crust structure and significant tectonic events. The chapter categorizes the main types and metallogenic periods of copper deposits, analyzing the accumulation process and post-mineralization preservation conditions. A prospecting model for copper deposits is established using GIS to quantitatively extract favorable metallogenic information, including material sources, migration channels, accumulation spaces, and ore-induced anomalies. The study identifies five prospective areas, with significant overlap or adjacency with known deposits, indicating favorable metallogenic conditions and great potential for copper resource prospecting. The chapter also provides an overview of the study area and regional geological background, detailing the Precambrian geological evolution and the main genetic types of copper deposits. The analysis of the influencing factors of preservation conditions after mineralization is also discussed, providing a comprehensive understanding of the region's copper mineralization potential.
