Abstract

The application of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) as an intumescent flame retardant on Varanasi brocade pineapple fabric is explored in this article. APP is introduced to improve flame retardancy, thermal stability, and durability of the fabric. The study involves the synthesis and application of APP with dicyandiamide as a catalyst, followed by extensive characterization using techniques such as FTIR, TGA, SEM, and EDX. The results demonstrate significant improvements in flame retardancy, with a 28.3% LOI value and enhanced thermal stability. Additionally, the article highlights the compatibility of APP treatment with natural dyes and its minimal impact on fabric stiffness. The research provides valuable insights into the sustainable and effective use of APP in textile flame retardancy, making it a standout contribution in the field.
