Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical role of geotechnical layers in railway infrastructure stability and the challenges posed by inadequate layer thicknesses. It introduces data fusion as a solution to enhance the accuracy of geotechnical models, focusing on the integration of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Pandoscope data. The chapter discusses the measurement principles of these technologies and the process of data fusion using the belief mass method. It presents a case study on a 28 km railway track, comparing different data fusion methods and highlighting the effectiveness of the PCR6 method in managing conflicts and improving model accuracy. The chapter concludes with perspectives on future improvements, emphasizing the importance of statistical analysis and consideration of material properties to enhance the model's applicability and accuracy.
