Abstract

The article delves into the application of mixed load-bearing structures in earthquake engineering, specifically focusing on the seismic resistance of cross-wall buildings in Kazakhstan. It discusses the various structural types and the importance of compliance with spatial planning and structural requirements to ensure earthquake resistance. The study involves a 12-storey residential building with a cross-wall structure, subjecting it to modal analysis and numerical simulations to evaluate its seismic performance. The research compares a torsionally flexible system with a moderately irregular shape, revealing that the latter offers better seismic resistance and material efficiency. The findings emphasize the necessity of choosing structural designs that limit torsional vibrations and enhance overall building reliability in seismically active zones.
