Zusammenfassung

Arbeitszufriedenheit und Arbeitsmotivation sind zentrale Konstrukte der Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie. Arbeitszufriedenheit liegt vor, wenn Menschen positive Kognitionen und Emotionen gegenüber ihrer Arbeit wahrnehmen. Während die Arbeitszufriedenheit einen retrospektiven Charakter besitzt, ist die Arbeitsmotivation stärker prospektiv ausgerichtet. Es handelt sich um das Engagement mit dem Menschen ihre Arbeitsaufgaben bearbeiten. Die Erforschung und die Förderung von Arbeitszufriedenheit und Arbeitsmotivation sind nicht nur für Arbeitskräfte, sondern auch für Arbeitgebende und die Gesellschaft wichtig. In diesem Kapitel werden die wichtigsten Theorien und Messansätze für beide Konstrukte vorgestellt. Darüber hinaus werden die Antezedenzien (z. B. Führungsstile, Persönlichkeitsfaktoren, Alter) und Konsequenzen (z. B. Gesundheit, Leistung, Commitment) der Arbeitszufriedenheit dargestellt.
