Abstract

The article delves into the critical issue of roadway stability in deep coal mining, where the mechanical properties of deep rock mass and high stress conditions pose significant challenges. It discusses the factors influencing roadway section design, such as lithology, geometry, and support technology. The study focuses on the Yangcheng coal mine, where the original rectangular roadway design led to severe deformation and safety issues. Through numerical simulations and field tests, the authors propose an optimized arched roadway section that significantly reduces plastic zone area, roof subsidence, and side displacement. The research highlights the importance of arch height in controlling surrounding rock deformation and demonstrates the effectiveness of orthogonal test analysis in roadway section optimization. The findings provide valuable insights for selecting appropriate roadway section shapes under similar geological conditions, thereby enhancing roadway stability and safety in deep coal mining operations.
