The chapter investigates the connection between eye gaze and perceived trust in human-AI interactions through an eye-tracking study. It utilizes metrics such as fixations and saccades to distinguish between trust and mistrust conditions when humans interact with AI. The study involved participants judging the authenticity of images while receiving AI decisions, with their eye movements tracked to analyze trust levels. The results show that fixation and saccade counts differ significantly between trust and mistrust conditions, indicating that eye tracking can be a valuable tool for assessing trust in AI systems.
