Abstract

After we got to know the technological standards in the last chapter, which are the basis for the many successful AGV realisations in recent years, we now want to look at the common areas of application of AGVs today, i.e. typical systems and techniques of the third era of AGVs. First we will categorise the applications according to processes and then look at examples of use from specific industries. A separate section is then dedicated to the special case of “outdoor AGVs”, in which the special features of outdoor use with a focus on navigation and safety are described and explained with the help of some examples.
