Abstract

The article delves into the use of natural language processing (NLP) to detect early signs of reputation crises, emphasizing the limitations of current methods that focus on sentiment or emotion analysis. It introduces a new definition of a reputation crisis in the context of NLP and evaluates various approaches, including heuristic crisis detection models, emotion detection algorithms, and statistical mention peak analysis tools. The study also highlights the need for a more holistic approach that covers different types of crises and internet sources, providing a comprehensive overview of the current state and future directions in crisis detection.
