Infineon Technologies has developed a sensor solution with Reality AI that adds hearing to autonomous systems. This allows acoustic signals from other road users to be detected.
The sensing solution developed by Infineon Technology and Reality AI is based on Xensiv MEMS microphones combined with Aurix microcontrollers (MCU) and Reality AI’s Automotive See-With-Sound (SWS) system. The system is enabled by machine learning-based algorithms to perceive acoustic signals from emergency vehicles, cars and other road users. The machine learning also ensures that the country-specific sirens of emergency vehicles can be recognized.
The automotive-certified Xensiv IM67D130A MEMS microphone has an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. The detection of distortion-free audio signals is enabled by the low distortion (THD) and high Acoustic Overload Point (AOP) of 130 dB SPL. To process the audio signal, the Reality AI software uses Infineon’s Aurix TC3x MCU family. The Xensiv IM67D130A MEMS microphone is available to order now in a PG-LLGA-5-4 package.
