Blackberry and Baidu are deepening their cooperation in autonomous driving, which has been in place since 2018. Baidu uses embedded software from Blackberry for its Apollo autonomous platform.

The software company Blackberry is expanding its strategic partnership with the Chinese Baidu Group. This will see Baidu's high-resolution maps run on Blackberry's QNX neutrino real-time operating system (RTOS) and go into production in the new GAC New Energy Aion models from GAC Group's electric vehicle arm.

"Together, we can help automakers rapidly produce safe autonomous vehicles and jointly drive the development of the smart connected car industry," said Wang Yunpeng, senior director of technology department of Baidu's Intelligent Driving Group. Baidu is already using QNX technology as the basis for its Apollo open platform for autonomous driving. Blackberry QNX embedded software is already in use in more than 175 million vehicles.
