FEV Group is establishing a new software and electronics company for the development of digital systems and solutions in the mobility sector. FEV.io is expected to have up to 600 employees.

FEV Group, founded in 1978 as a research company for energy technology and combustion engines, will bundle its development and services in software-driven areas with the new company FEV.io GmbH. With this move, the once classic engine developer is taking a step toward positioning itself more visibly in the market outside of drive development. Dr. Johannes Richenhagen is Managing Director of FEV.io GmbH alongside Dr. Johannes Scharf (Managing Director of FEV Europe GmbH and interim Managing Director of FEV.io).

Globally active at all locations

FEV.io will primarily cover the development areas of systems engineering, functional safety and cybersecurity, connected mobility, ADAS/AD systems (driver assistance and automated driving), infotainment, and software and electric/electronic (E/E) platforms and integration. The new company will operate globally at all locations in the network of FEV companies, the company said. According to information from the ATZelectronics and springerprofessional.de editorial teams, 600 jobs are planned for the new division.

“With FEV.io, we are responding to this development and bundling our many years of experience in all areas relevant to the development of intelligent mobility solutions. In this way, we significantly support the development success of our customers,” Prof. Stefan Pischinger, CEO of FEV Group, is quoted as saying in a statement issued by the group. “This ranges from design and industrialization to the provision of frameworks and tools.”

The new CEO, Richenhagen, said, “Our methodologies in scenario- and model-based systems engineering represent a unique selling point and support in mastering even the highest system complexity.” As a result, he added, the company is able to bridge the gap between the vehicle and ITC (information technology and communications) and deliver state-of-the-art networked solutions with an end-to-end view of data pipelines from the vehicle to the back end.

In addition, FEV.io aims to continuously strengthen its expertise with input from the consumer electronics, cloud, and automotive industries, and is working with global leaders in IT, such as Wipro.
