The automotive alliance Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi has agreed to a multi-year partnership with Google. Together they aim to develop the next generation of new infotainment systems.

As a result of the collaboration, the new HMI systems will be based on the Android operating system and will allow applications such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play Store to be integrated into Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi vehicles from 2021. In addition, access to automotive apps from the Google Play Store and smart voice control will also be possible.

Basic vehicle functions can be managed and controlled by Google Assistant. The Alliance Intelligent Cloud will provide over-the-air upgrades and remote diagnostics. Each brand will have the flexibility to create a unique customer interface and develop specific features.
