Continental announced a partnership with Google Cloud at IAA Mobility 2023. Together, the two companies are bringing artificial intelligence to the vehicle computer.

Continental and Google Cloud have announced a partnership. The two companies will each contribute their expertise in the fields of automotive, software, AI and cloud computing to offer users an intuitive user experience in the vehicle by means of artificial intelligence. "Together with Google, we are bringing artificial intelligence to the vehicle cockpit and are creating an intuitive experience for drivers. Based on our Smart Cockpit High-Performance Computer, we expect our solution to be ready for production within just 18 months development time. This is how our vision of software-defined vehicles starts to become a reality,” said Philipp von Hirschheydt, member of Continental’s Executive Board and head of the Automotive group sector.

With the AI-based system from Google Cloud, users can enter into a dialog with their vehicle via a voice command. For example, information about hotels or points of interest on their route and information about the vehicle's condition can be requested. In doing so, the dialog system should be able to correctly understand and interpret the context. Google Cloud's generative artificial intelligence also lets the system learn all the time. Continental has already transferred its HPC-based vehicle architecture to series production together with Volkswagen for the entire vehicle network of the ID. electric models.
