Porsche Unveils Six-Cylinder 718 Spyder and Cayman GT4

Porsche has unveiled two new premium models from its 718 range. The Porsche 718 Spyder and Cayman GT4 are powered by a newly developed 4.0 l six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. 

Porsche has unveiled the new 718 Spyder and Cayman GT4. These new premium models feature a bigger lip spoiler and air curtain at the front, and a diffuser at the rear. The 718 Cayman GT4 has a fixed spoiler, whereas the spoiler on the 718 Spyder extends at speeds above 120 km/h.

The new premium models also mark the return of the "smaller" Porsche models to a six-cylinder engine. The 718 Boxster and Cayman are usually powered by turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The new 4.0 l flat-six naturally aspirated engine is based on the turbocharged engine used in the current 911 Carrera range. This high-speed flat engine provides both models with 309 kW (420 hp) of power, a maximum torque of 420 Nm and 5,000 to 6,800 rpm. Both vehicles feature a 6-speed manual gearbox and can accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds from a standing start. The 718 Spyder has a top speed of 301 km/h, while the 718 Cayman GT4 gets up to 304 km/h.

The full GT chassis with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) damping has been dropped by 30 mm and specially designed for the circuit. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear differential lock enhances longitudinal and lateral dynamics. Large aluminium monobloc fixed-calliper brakes provide a high-performance braking system. The Porsche 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 are available to order now.
