British sports car manufacturer Lotus has unveiled the Emira, a new mid-engine sports car. The sports car, which is suitable for everyday use, is to be available from summer 2022.

The new Lotus Emira is 4412 mm long, 1895 mm wide and 1225 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2575 mm. The new lightweight chassis is made of bonded aluminum. The lightest version of the mid-engine sports car weighs 1405 kg. The design language introduced with the Emira features flowing lines, and thanks to sophisticated aerodynamics it does not require active spoilers.
The Emira is offered with two turbo gasoline engines. Depending on the version and market, power is transmitted via manual, automatic and dual-clutch transmissions. The 2.0-l turbocharged i4 engine produces 268 kW (365 PS) and comes from technology partner AMG. The transversely mounted rear-wheel drive engine is equipped with a dual-clutch transmission. Further modifications include a new air intake system and a new exhaust.
Lotus Emira available with V6 engine
The more powerful 3.5-l V6 engine comes from Toyota and is already familiar from the Exige and Evora. With supercharging, it produces 299 kW (406 PS) and offers a maximum torque of 430 Nm. 0 to 100 km/h is said to be done in less than 4.5 s, and the Emira is also capable of speeds of up to 290 km/h. Two suspension settings are available: "Tour" is comfortably tuned, while the firmer-tuned "Sports" is available with the optional Lotus Drivers Pack.
The interior, with its electrically adjustable seats, features a raised gearshift lever on models with manual transmission, and a red cover over the start button. Behind the sports steering wheel, which is flattened at the top and bottom, the driver looks at a 12.3" digital instrument cluster. A 10.25" touchscreen is available for operating the infotainment system.

In addition to increased comfort in the form of Keyless Go, electrically folding mirrors or rain sensors for the windshield wipers, a variety of driver assistance systems are also available for the Emira: Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning, Drowsiness Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Speed Limiter, Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and a Lane Change Assist. The new Lotus Emira will be built in Hethel, Norfolk (UK) and will be launched in summer 2022.
