Stellantis unveils STLA Large, the second of its four electric car platforms. Electric vehicles from Dodge, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler and Maserati are to be built on this platform.
The STLA Large platform is designed for electric vehicles in the D and E segments. The possible length of the vehicles is between 4,764 and 5,126 mm, the wheelbase ranges from 2,870 to 3,075 mm and the width is 1,897 to 2,030 mm. Multi-energy variants, i.e. vehicles with hybrid and combustion engines, can also be built on this basis. Transverse and longitudinal engines are planned. The models range from sedans to crossovers and SUVs. From 2024 to 2026, eight vehicles from different Stellantis brands are to be launched on the market. The Jeep Wagoneer S will be the first.
The platform was developed for 400 and 800 V electric architectures. The three-in-one electric drive modules contain the motor, power inverter and gear reduction and can be configured in different ways. There will be vehicles with front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The inverter uses silicon carbide semiconductor technology to minimize power losses. The batteries with 85 and 118 kWh capacity should provide a range of around 800 km for a sedan.
