The Ferrari 812 Superfast will shortly be celebrating its debut. The super sports car lives up to its name and will become the fastest Ferrari in the history of the brand. With this model, Ferrari would like to usher in a new era in its 12-cylinder history.

Ferrari has chosen the 87th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show for the world premiere of the new V12 berlinetta 812 Superfast. The performance speaks for itself. The 812 Superfast’s new 6.5-litre V12 mid-front engine unleashes 588 kW (800 hp) onto the streets. It achieves maximum power output at 8,500 rpm, which translates to a specific power output of 123 hp/l. 80 percent of the maximum torque of 718 Nm is already available at 3,500 rpm. This enables the sports car to hit the 100 km/h mark in 2.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 340 km/h.

These performance levels were achieved in part by adopting a 350 bar direct injection system and pairing it with variable geometry intake manifolds. This design stems from its naturally aspirated F1 engines according to Ferrari. The 812 Superfast’s dual-clutch transmission has specific gear ratios which, combined with shorter shifting times between gears, sharpen throttle response still further. It is the first Ferrari model to sport EPS (Electric Power Steering). Through the complete integration with all the electronic vehicle dynamics controls – including the latest 5.0 version of Ferrari’s patented Side Slip Control (SSC) – the vehicle’s powerful performance is easier to handle and exploit to the full.

New styling for the V12 Ferrari

Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the new 812 Superfast redefines the formal language of front-engined V12 Ferraris. Seen in silhouette, the 812 Superfast boasts a fastback sleekness: a two-box design with a high tail reminiscent of the 365 GTB4 of 1969 according to Ferrari. The design of the flanks visually shortens the tail. Characterised by impressively muscular wheel arches, these are also meant to visibly imbue the 812 Superfast with power and aggression. The four round tail lights inspired by Ferrari tradition are there to emphasise the horizontal design lines. These give the 812 Superfast a broad, imposing stance, visually lowering both spoiler and cabin.
