BMW has sharply revised its 7 Series. The luxury saloon is far more distinctive. All engines now meet the Euro 6d-TEMP standard, and the 750i xDrive model runs on a newly developed V8 petrol engine.

The revised BMW 7 Series will be launched in March 2019 and features a number of eye-catching changes. The fully redesigned front is 50 millimetres taller, while the single-piece kidney grille has grown by 40 percent. The emblem has also been enlarged, but the headlights are now slimmer, and a newly sculpted bonnet stretches back. The striking side profile has redesigned "Air Breathers" in the shape of a hockey stick. The rear now has slimmer LED lights with a full-width light strip.

The Munich-based company's flagship is powered by six-cylinder inline petrol and diesel engines, a V8 petrol engine and a V12 petrol engine. An eight-speed Steptronic transmission comes as standard. The M760Li xDrive now has a particle filter. The V12 petrol engine generates 430 kW (585 hp) and 850 Nm of torque and accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The BMW 750i xDrive is powered by a new 4.4-l V8 petrol engine with 390 kW (530 hp) of output.

BMW 7 Series hybrid is also available as all-wheel drive

Three hybrid versions are available: the 745e, the 745Le and the all-wheel drive 745Le xDrive. The system output is 290 kW (394 hp), with 600 Nm of torque. The purely electric range is between 50 and 58 kilometres. The diesel versions are based on a 3.0-l six-cylinder inline diesel engine with an output of 195 kW (265 hp) in the 730d, 235 kW (320 hp) in the 740d xDrive and 294 kW (400 hp) in the 750d xDrive.

The 7 Series comes with an adaptive chassis and two-axle air suspension as standard. The BMW M760Li xDrive top model and plug-in hybrid variants have their own chassis set-up. An Integral Active Steering system and Executive Drive Pro with active anti-roll stabilisation are available as options.

BMW has revised the interior including the steering wheel. Behind the wheel is a 12.3-inch digital BMW Live Cockpit Professional instrument cluster. The 10.25-inch infotainment display can be operated via touch display, the iDrive controller, steering wheel buttons, voice and gesture control. The large saloon now features the advanced Driving Assistant Professional system, which also includes Steering and Lane Control assistants, an Approach control warning, Cross Traffic Alert, intersection assistant and traffic jam assistant, wrong-way driver warning, as well as Active Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist. The Park Assistant comes as standard and now also has a Reversing Assistant.
