After releasing the Arkana in Russia, Renault is now introducing its new model to the European market. This SUV Coupé is available in three hybrid drive versions with petrol engines.

At 4.57 m long, the Renault Arkana sits between Renault’s Kadjar and Koleos SUVs in terms of size. Its wheelbase is 2.72 m, which is 1.5 cm longer than that of the Koleos, but at 1.57 m high, the Arkana is 10 cm lower. The ground clearance is 19 cm, and there is a skid plate fitted to the front and rear. It also features 18-inch wheels.

The interior boasts a digital instrument cluster that is either 4.2 or 10 inches depending on the equipment. The touchscreen for the infotainment system on the centre console, which is slightly angled towards the driver, comes in a horizontal 7-inch or vertical 9.3-inch version. According to the manufacturer, the rear knee room and footwells are some of the largest in the segment at 21.1 cm and 30.5 cm respectively. The boot capacity is 513 l (438 l in the E-TECH versions).

Three hybrid drives for the Renault Arkana

The Renault Arkana is starting out with the TCe 140 EDC, whose 1.3 l four-cylinder petrol engine is fitted with a mild hybrid system that comprises a starter generator and a 12 V lithium-ion battery. This mild hybrid version will also be available as a TCe 160 EDC. The Arkana E-Tech 140 hybrid version with a 1.6 l petrol engine, two electric motors and a clutchless multi-mode gearbox will then be released afterwards. Because the hybrid can recuperate a significant amount of power, it is estimated that it can travel up to 80% of all routes on urban journeys on electricity alone.

The range of driver assistance systems features the Highway and Traffic Jam Companion, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, emergency braking with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist, blind spot warning and road sign detection with speed limit warning. Cross traffic alert and Easy Park Assist with a 360-degree camera are also included. The Renault Arkana is being built in Busan in South Korea.
