Abstract

The chapter delves into the cutting-edge field of autonomous mobile robot navigation, focusing on the challenges faced in narrow pathways, particularly within warehouse environments. It introduces a innovative approach that combines lower resolution grids with a PID-based Pure Pursuit controller to address these challenges effectively. The use of lower resolution grids reduces computational complexity, allowing for more efficient path planning and execution. The PID-based Pure Pursuit controller enhances the robot's ability to navigate accurately and avoid obstacles, overcoming issues such as overshooting and backward movement. The chapter also explores the integration of this solution with popular robotics software frameworks like ROS and Gazebo, providing a practical and implementable method for improving mobile robot navigation in real-world scenarios. The results of extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of this approach in terms of speed, accuracy, and collision avoidance, making it a valuable contribution to the field of autonomous robotics.
