5. BCEAweb: A User-Friendly Web App to Use BCEA

BCEAweb is a web application that simplifies the analysis of health economic evaluations, making it accessible to users who do not use R. It allows for the easy import of probabilistic model results and offers a wide range of standardized functions to analyze both the assumptions and outcomes. The application is designed to produce result summaries, tables, and graphs in a familiar web environment. BCEAweb supports various input formats, including CSV files from spreadsheet calculators, OpenBUGS/JAGS, and R. It also includes functionalities to produce full reports and analyze the inputs of a probabilistic analysis to test distributional assumptions. The application is developed entirely in R-Shiny, ensuring a user-friendly interface and efficient performance. BCEAweb is available both online and can be run locally via the BCEAweb R package. It connects users to an R server, making the main functionalities of BCEA quickly and easily accessible through a familiar web interface. The application is particularly useful for researchers and analysts who want to expand the scope of their health economic analyses without rebuilding models from scratch or programming additional analyses. BCEAweb offers a faster EVPPI calculation method for multidimensional problems, based on the work presented in Heath et al. (2016). The application is inspired by the Sheffield Accelerated Value of Information (SAVI) web app and includes functionalities to produce a modular summary report in Word or PDF format. The report is modular, allowing users to choose the sections to be included. Additionally, the plots may be generated using either of the three graphical engines in BCEA: the base R engine, ggplot2, and plotly.
