Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical importance of bearing health monitoring in industrial settings, highlighting the challenges posed by bearing defects and their impact on machinery productivity. It introduces a innovative method using dynamic time warping (DTW) for classifying bearing vibration signals, which is particularly valuable when historical data is limited. The text provides a comprehensive overview of bearing signal characteristics and the DTW technique, illustrating how DTW can align and compare time-domain signals to quantify their similarity. The proposed method integrates DTW with spectral kurtosis for enhanced demodulation, enabling effective classification of bearing health states. Experimental validation using real-world bearing datasets demonstrates the method's ability to distinguish between different fault types, such as inner race, outer race, and rolling element defects. This chapter offers a fresh perspective on bearing health monitoring, emphasizing the practical advantages of the DTW-based approach in industrial applications.
