Abstract

This chapter delves into the architectural limits of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), arguing that no system can fully contain its own logic. It introduces the concept of incompleteness, inspired by Gödel's incompleteness theorems, and suggests that ambiguity, dissent, and memory are not flaws but essential dimensions of resilient DAO governance. The text explores the myth of total governance, the fallacy of complete governance, and the limits of protocols, using real-world examples and case studies. It also introduces the concept of quantum governance, which embraces divergence and coexistence over consensus. The chapter concludes with design takeaways for building decentralized institutions that remain legitimate, adaptive, and resilient under uncertainty.
