Abstract

This article delves into the transformative potential of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in education, emphasizing the need for sustainable learning environments that evolve with AI. It explores the importance of systems thinking, organizational learning, and educational change to harness AI's potential while preserving the human dimensions of teaching and learning. The article highlights the challenges of AI integration, such as the need for ecological compatibility between new technologies and existing educational systems, and the importance of building resilient ecosystems with feedback loops, distributed leadership, and a culture of experimentation. It also discusses the role of physical and digital learning spaces in supporting human-AI collaboration and the need for ongoing professional development and adaptive leadership. The article concludes with a call for building learning organizations that approach AI integration as ongoing collective inquiry, emphasizing the importance of sustained investment in organizational development, professional learning, and collaborative networks.
