Abstract

This article delves into the evaluation of sketch maps using bidimensional regression and order relations, focusing on various types of spatial knowledge and distortions. The study categorizes sketch maps into landmark, route, and survey knowledge, each exhibiting unique distortions in shape, scale, and position. The article analyzes the performance of bidimensional regression and order relations (PA and coarse IA) under these distortions, highlighting their strengths and limitations. Through experiments on real sketch maps, the study provides insights into the accuracy and applicability of these methods. It concludes with recommendations for using these methods in different types of sketch maps, offering a comprehensive guide for professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of spatial cognition and mapping techniques.
