Abstract

The article delves into the critical aspects of large-size sphere-plane long air gaps in converter stations, highlighting the need for advanced machine learning techniques to predict breakdown voltages accurately. It discusses the limitations of traditional regression methods and introduces a granular support vector regression (GSVR) algorithm to manage unbalanced data effectively. The study is based on extensive test data, comparing different gap structures and meteorological conditions to validate the proposed model's superiority. The research contributes to the efficient design and operation of converter stations, particularly in ultra-high voltage transmission projects.
