Abstract

The chapter delves into the application of lean manufacturing techniques in a casting factory, focusing on the use of fuzzy logic to calculate efficiency rates. It begins with an introduction to the competitive environment and the necessity of lean manufacturing for improving efficiency and reducing costs. The literature review covers various lean manufacturing methods and their integration with artificial intelligence, particularly fuzzy logic. The methodology section explains value stream mapping and fuzzy logic, followed by a detailed application in Akdaş Döküm A.Ş. The study identifies and addresses key wastes (muda) in the production process, applying lean techniques such as 5S, KAIZEN, and FIFO. The use of MATLAB for fuzzy logic calculations demonstrates a significant increase in efficiency, from 60.9% to 71.9%. This practical approach provides valuable insights into how lean manufacturing and fuzzy logic can be effectively combined to enhance productivity and streamline operations.
