Abstract

The article introduces a new method for calculating the health index of power transformers by combining principal component analysis (PCA) and a mass-spring-damper model. The method addresses the limitations of conventional methods by considering the trend of measured data over multiple periods and using CIGRE technical brochure 761 modes instead of standard scores. The PCA method is used to calculate weight coefficients for transformer oil parameters, while the mass-spring-damper model is employed to simulate the transformer's behavior under various conditions. The health index is then calculated based on the infinity norm matrix of the system matrix for new and used transformers. The proposed method is validated using real field data from six different power transformers, demonstrating high accuracy compared to other methods. The article highlights the importance of considering the trend of measured data and the unique approach of comparing transformer parameters with a mechanical system for health index calculation.
