Abstract

The expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) has increased the demand for wireless communications, particularly Wi-Fi networks. This article focuses on the deployment of Wi-Fi networks, specifically in the context of Smart Farming, where autonomous mobile robots require monitoring and remote control. The use of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology and beamforming is highlighted as a means to enhance both coverage and capacity. The article presents a capacity-aware deployment strategy, validated through simulations using the NS-3 simulator, and compares different deployment scenarios. It also introduces an empirical model to estimate performance for various field sizes. The study concludes that while beamforming offers significant benefits, especially for high-data-rate applications, the practical implementation may face hardware limitations and environmental challenges. Future work is suggested to consider additional performance criteria and network topologies.
