Abstract

The study focuses on the use of fungal mycelium/eicosane composite as an energy storage additive for gypsum plaster. The composite is prepared by adsorbing eicosane onto mycelium hyphae, which are cultivated from Trametes hirsuta. The composite's thermoregulating performance is evaluated through differential scanning calorimetry and model experiments, demonstrating its potential to enhance the thermal energy storage properties of gypsum plaster. The results show that the composite slows down the heating and cooling rate of the plaster layer, indicating its viability as a thermoregulating additive for indoor applications. The study concludes with the need for further research to optimize the composition and explore the impact on mechanical properties.
