Abstract

This article investigates the synthesis and characterization of castor oil-segmented polyurethanes incorporating disulfide bonds, focusing on their self-healing and mechanical properties. The study reveals that the integration of disulfide bonds enhances the self-healing capabilities of polyurethanes, allowing them to recover from damage efficiently. The research delves into the thermal stability and mechanical strength of these materials, demonstrating that while disulfide bonds improve self-healing, they also affect the mechanical properties. The article explores the optimal conditions for achieving a balance between self-healing efficiency and mechanical robustness, providing insights into the structural and chemical modifications that can enhance these properties. Furthermore, the study discusses the potential applications of these advanced polyurethanes in flexible electronics, wearable devices, and protective coatings, highlighting their significance in modern material science.
