Abstract

This article delves into the potential of ceramic solar absorbers and collectors, with a particular focus on vanadium-titanium black ceramic (VTBC) technology, as a sustainable and efficient solution for building-integrated solar energy systems. The text compares VTBC collectors with traditional evacuated tube collectors (ETCs) and metal flat-plate collectors (MFCs), highlighting the advantages of VTBC in terms of cost, durability, and integration with building structures. It also explores the efficiency improvement mechanisms of VTBC collectors and their application in various building types and climates. The article concludes that VTBC technology offers a promising pathway to carbon neutrality, particularly in developing regions with abundant ceramic raw materials. Additionally, it provides recommendations for future research directions, including the optimization of ceramic materials and the development of region-specific building integration methods. The text also discusses the economic benefits and passive thermal performance of VTBC systems, making it a valuable resource for professionals seeking to advance solar thermal utilization in buildings.
