The Ariane Group boosts output at the Umberto Ceramics factory in India with the purchase of a second Sacmi-Sama solution dedicated to the production of cups and saucers. The new solution is a NCC2 generation jiggering solution with high production capacity.

The project is part of a wider plan to expand the complete plant – set up with SACMI in 2013 – in response to the strong increase in market demand both locally and on an international level.

Equipped with 2 heads and 124 moulds, the machine can make pieces of up to a max. height of 150 mm, with production output of up to 1200 pieces/hour according to shape and size. High production capacity is the benefit of this solution which, in addition to the two jiggering heads, also includes a greenware dryer, where the piece ages, after which it can be demoulded and pass on to the sponging and handle application operations.

The entire production process is automatic, from loading of the clay pugs to mould handling, to greenware drying, demoulding and the subsequent transfer of the pieces to the automatic finishing station. As with all Sacmi machines, the NCC2 is also set up for remote service for troubleshooting and monitoring plant performance.

From the point of view of plant layout, the solution has been positioned opposite the first NCC2 already operating at the factory to assist the operators manage the production flows. Compared to the previous solution, the new NCC2 supplied introduces some upgrades such as the two independent heads – maximizing versatility for managing pieces with complex shapes – and new handling systems (unloading towards finishing) to carry out all movements safely.
