Conventional combustion engines deliver adequate warmth for heating-up the cabin while highly-efficient downsizing engines need auxiliary PTC heaters. As FEV and VKA state here in a benchmark, it is more difficult for electric cars to compensate the heating deficit or lowering the heating power required. A virtual development process was worked out in order to answer these complex questions. This process is based on a combination of one and three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics simulation. …
