Abstract

The article investigates the transformation of phosphorus during electric field-assisted aerobic fermentation of municipal sludge, highlighting the significant increase in effective phosphorus content. It explores how electric fields enhance microbial activity and enzyme secretion, leading to the conversion of insoluble phosphorus into available forms. The study reveals that electric field-assisted composting (EAC) increases oxygen utilization, temperature, and microbial diversity, resulting in a more efficient composting process. Key findings include the enhanced activity of phosphorus-solubilizing bacteria (PSBs) and phosphatases, which play crucial roles in phosphorus conversion. The research also provides insights into the environmental factors and microbial interactions that drive phosphorus activation, offering a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms involved. The article concludes with a discussion on the potential applications of electric field technology in improving phosphorus recovery and utilization in municipal sludge management.
