Prof. Dr. Uwe Dieter Grebe (born in 1965) studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt. He began his career in 1991 at General Motors/Adam Opel AG where he had several different management positions in the field of gasoline and diesel engine development. In the powertrain joint venture owned by Fiat and GM, he was Functional Leader for Gasoline Engines. In 2004, he took on global responsibility for the advanced development of all engine, gearbox and hybrid components for GM Powertrain. In 2011, Grebe, who was by then an honorary professor at the Technical University of Vienna, moved to a new position at GM. As Executive Director, he was responsible for all the interdisciplinary activities that ensured the CO
2 compliance of the European vehicle portfolio. He also had responsibility for research and pre-development of vehicle, powertrain and production systems and alternative drive concepts. Since 2012, Grebe has been Executive Vice President Global Business Development, Sales and International Operations, Powertrain Systems at AVL List GmbH in Graz (Austria).
