Abstract

This chapter delves into the strategic alliance between China and Iran, focusing on the geopolitical significance of Iran in China's Belt and Road Initiative. It explores how Iran's rich history and strategic location make it a crucial partner for China's global ambitions. The chapter also examines the impact of US sanctions on China-Iran relations and the complex dynamics of their alliance amidst regional tensions and US containment strategies. Additionally, it discusses the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in fostering cooperation between China, Iran, and other non-Western states.
