Abstract

This chapter delves into China's ambitious One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative, highlighting its parallels with the post-World War II Marshall Plan. It explores the project's vast infrastructure building and economic integration goals, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa regions. The text also examines the challenges China faces due to its treatment of Muslim minorities, such as the Uyghurs, and how this may strain its relations with Islamic countries. It discusses the potential for conflict between China's global ambitions and the values and aspirations of the Arab world. The chapter concludes by considering the future of China's global vision and the risks it faces in its dealings with the Islamic world.
